Floating Islands for Water Quality in Hicklin Lake, White Center

This floating islands project was initiated when Friends of Hicklin Lake asked for floating islands as an alternative to future alum treatments. Biomatrix Water / Herrera Environmental were selected to provide platforms installation in July 2013.

The installation was a community event made possible with the participation of numerous volunteers.

This report gives a good overview of the maintenance required and the lessons learned following the initial installation.  Water quality monitoring and metals concentration were also measured.
