Application Services for Bacterius®, Algaecide and Aquatic Dye
Seasonal Application Contracts:
For local clients who want to simplify pond care, CanadianPond.ca offers a recurring application service for a variety of water treatment products.
Our beneficial bacteria treatments, featuring Bacterius® products, are most effective when applied on a regular schedule. For liquid treatments, such as Bacterius® Pond, Bacterius® Equinox, and our CanadianPond Pond Dye, we recommend monthly applications, as these dilute naturally over time. For dry bacteria treatments, we recommend biweekly applications to help maintain a strong population of beneficial bacteria, helping to support a balanced ecosystem.
With a service contract, you never have to worry about missed applications or inconsistent results. We take care of the schedule for you, ensuring consistent treatment so your pond is always ready to enjoy.
When required, we also offer monthly algaecide applications to address excess algae or cyanobacteria. Since algaecide is classified as a pesticide, it must be handled with care, as prolonged use can create additional challenges. Contact us if you think your pond may require algaecide treatments!
Single Application Services:
Our application service is also available on a single application basis. If you’re on vacation and will miss an application of bacteria during the peak of summer, or you simply want to try our water treatments for the first time we can ensure the application is done right by a member of our team!
In most cases, our algaecide application service will be a one-time use dose, either when your pond water quality has declined and algae has taken over, or when a municipal swimming beach experiences a sudden outbreak of cyanobacteria. Before treatment, certain on-site conditions must be met to ensure the application is safe and effective.
Algaecide Treatment
Algaecide is classified as a pesticide, whose sale is regulated by a variety of government agencies, both federal and provincial. Depending on your location, you may be able to purchase algaecide and apply it yourself, visit the product page for more information (COMING SOON). In Quebec, where CanadianPond is based, we can sell algaecide directly to consumers who hold a valid permit. For clients without a permit, we do offer a professional algaecide application service done by one of our team’s trained technicians. CanadianPond is fully compliant with all regulations and holds the necessary permits for both the sale and application of these products. This allows us to provide safe and legal service to individuals and companies who do not hold an application license.
Requirements for Algaecide Application Service
Since algaecide is a controlled pesticide product, not all ponds or water bodies are eligible qualify for treatment. To ensure safety and compliance, several conditions must be met:
Closed Water System
Your pond must be a closed system with no outflow into other water bodies or streams. This prevents algaecide from spreading and potentially contaminating ecosystems where treatment is not required. As algaecide can take up to 48 hours to fully bind to algae, the pond’s outlet must be closed for this period. Please ensure the water exit is closed at least 24 hours before our team’s arrival.
Fish Considerarion
Are there fish in your pond? If so treatment with algaecide can be toxic to certain species in high enough concentrations. A reduced concentration treatment can be applied to protect them. In some cases, this may require a second treatment within 48 hours to fully resolve the algae issue. Contact us to know more about how we protect fish health when using algaecide.
Confirmation of Problem
To ensure that algaecide is being used appropriately, we require confirmation of the issue in your body of water. For algae and cyanobacteria, a visual inspection in usually sufficient. In the case of E. coli, a water test result may be required.
