Technical specifications

Bacterius™ WTF is a Wastewater Treatment Formula that helps prevent grease accumulation in drains, sewers, lift stations and waste water treatment plants (WWTP).  The highly concentrated natural beneficial bacteria strains found in Bacterius™ WTF are selected for their ability to consume fats, grease, oil, nutrients, and other organics that contribute to costly water treatment problems. It is also effective in odour reduction associated with H2S production. For many conditions particular to municipal waste water treatment, Bacterius™ WTF is formulated to address them.

Accumulated grease causes many problems since it can restrict the flow of wastewater, or it can break off and create a plug of grease downstream. Wastewater treatment is all about avoiding costly and dangerous fluid back ups where raw sewage can overflow into streets or homes.   Grease solidification and build-up restricts flow and can cause complete block-ages and water backups. Grease accumulation on pumps can also cause them to overheat. Grease build-up provides an anaerobic environment favorable for unwanted bacteria producing noxious odors of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or even highly toxic and explosive gases such as methane. Hydrogen sulfide in gravity sewers and lift stations becomes a food source for sulfate oxidizing bacteria (Thiobacillus); they convert the hydrogen sulfide into sulfuric acid, which dissolves concrete and metal structures within sewers, lift stations and even manholes covers reducing life expectancy of infrastructures.

Grease, in the aeration basin, reduces oxygen transfer on two levels: within the floc and on the water surface. Grease also causes problems of poor settling and foaming. Excessive grease content in the sludge reduces dewatering efficiency. The thickening of the sludge could be also affected because of the rapid development of anaerobic conditions that will cause sludge to float.

Dosage for Bacterius™ WTF

Bacterius™ WTF waste water treatment dosage requirements may change from application to application, depending on the level of waste contaminants, the type of wastewater system and the amount of effluent going through each system on a daily basis. The following dosing is a starting point. Exact dosage rates may need to be adjusted based on the system you are treating.  Apply product directly to the waste water.

  1. Days 1 to 3: Apply 25 lbs per million gallons of water, per day, (per BOD of 250 mg/L)
  2. Days 3 to 7: Apply 12 to 15 lbs per million of gallons of water, per day, (per BOD of 250 mg/L)
  3. Maintenance: Apply 3 to 4 lbs per million of gallons of water, per day, (per BOD of 250 mg/L)
